Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress best known for her roles as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. The couple had separated and they moved together with their mother into Los Angeles. Her first role came to her, as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time in the financial department. Following her win of a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal in Murder in Greenwich of 15 year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace went on to take home the award. Grace Rutherford was the lead actor in Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Grace left the television series in the year 2005, to take on a more significant role in film, appearing in the film Taken alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. The actress was as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. The role was reprised for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost in the series, which included the conclusion. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in Californianation, the 6th Season. She plays Faith, who is a fan and muse of the celebrities. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens she appeared in small roles in the films of her father and was co-starring with her twin brother on Donnie Darko which is a famous cult film. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy Secretary (2002) and in the dramatic Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her the Golden Globe Award nomination. Following a string of commercially successful movies in 2006 including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In 2009, she was nominated for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mom in Crazy Heart. After that, she went on to appear in comedy films and dramas like Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and The Won't Back Down (12). Alongside her work as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she was also seen on screen in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). One of her most recent roles were as the main character of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). The debut of Gyllenhaal as a writer and director took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama for which she received an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. The film also was awarded the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
